On a sunny Sunday afternoon, the community came together to mark the grand opening of the long-awaited Vancouver Jewish Community Garden (VJCG). The event was filled with excitement and a strong sense of unity as community members, volunteers, and founding organizations gathered to witness the transformation of an empty lot into a flourishing green oasis.
The executive committee's words echoed the pride and vision that fueled this remarkable project. They emphasized the power of community engagement, sustainable living, and the importance of cultivating a shared space for all to enjoy.
After years of planning and months of hard work, the community was finally able to see the fruits of the collective efforts of Congregation Beth Israel, Jewish Family Services, Vancouver Talmud Torah, and countless volunteers. The garden is a symbol of resilience, cooperation, and the shared commitment to nurturing both the land and our relationships with one another.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this community garden a reality. Special thanks to those who helped make the garden’s grand opening a memorable event:
- Sulam
- Tybie Lipetz of MindsEye Photography
- The Perfect Bite
- Dina Sacks
- Braden O’Donnell
- Erin Karleen
Together, we have built more than a garden; we have cultivated a thriving community.
Support the VJCG and make a meaningful impact today*. To ensure the blooming vitality of this space, we will need the ongoing support of our entire community for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the garden.
The VJCG was made possible by the generosity of the Diamond Foundation. The Diamond Foundation secured a long-term lease of this land for future development and is allowing the land to be used on a temporary basis. We are also grateful to the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, in partnership with the Jewish Community Foundation and the Ronald S. Roadburg Foundation, for their significant financial seed gifts.
*Donations to the VJCG are processed through VTT.
