Better at Home is a program that helps seniors with non-medical, day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes, and remain connected to their communities.
Services available:
- Light Housekeeping and laundry
- Transportation to Medical appointments (provided by volunteers)
- Grocery shopping assistance (provided by volunteers)
- Friendly visiting (provided by volunteers)
- Meal Delivery
- Handyman/handywoman Services (provided by volunteers)
- Transportation Social (provided by volunteers)
- Group Activities (provided by volunteers)
Eligibility
Services are available to all seniors 65+ living in Kerrisdale, Oakridge, Marpole, Southlands, and Dunbar (Ontario St. – Blanca St., W25 Ave. – SW Marine Dr.) We must give priority to seniors who are isolated, low or moderate income, living with a disability, or moderately frail.
Cost
Housekeeping and transportation are priced on a sliding scale according to the individual’s income level. There is no charge for grocery shopping, friendly visits, or transportation to social. There may be a small charge for group activities. Handy person service is $20 per year up to 6 visits of minor repairs and prepared meal delivery is $2.00 per meal.
