The Spring Equinox is right around the corner and the Vancouver Jewish Community Garden is officially ready for its 2024 season!
With all the City of Vancouver permits and inspections now complete, Congregation Beth Israel, Jewish Family Services, and Vancouver Talmud Torah will be able to plan programming in the garden to cultivate the overlapping missions of these agencies. We’re looking forward to hosting and participating in diverse events and activities that will take advantage of this beautiful space.
During the colder months, many of the plants in the garden were dormant, though garlic shoots provided a bit of greenery. Garden activity has continued: plants were mulched, trees were pruned, and the last of the carrots and kale were harvested thanks to numerous JFS volunteers, VTT groups, and CBI Hebrew School and Chai School students.

What a Year!
The inaugural year of the Vancouver Jewish Community Garden was an inspiring journey of growth. The garden offered meaningful ways to connect with nature and address food security in our community, and allowed members of the community to come together and work collaboratively.
As we reflect on the accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned, it is evident that this endeavor has not only yielded bountiful harvests but has also sown the seeds for a more resilient, healthier, and tightly-knit community.
Looking ahead, we're excited to expand on the values that drove the garden’s creation and continue to cultivate not just the soil but the bonds that make our community garden a thriving testament to the power of collaboration and stewardship.
