JFS and the Jewish Museum and Archives of BC are delighted to partner on presenting The Supper Club which will feature menus, foods, and family stories that reflect the diversity of the Jewish community of BC.
The Supper Club will engage participants in the elements of food that nourish our souls and strengthen community in addition to delighting our taste buds.
Our hosts are Eli Joseph and his aunt Esther Joseph Giffen. Eli and Esther’s family migrated from Karachi to Mumbai in the late 1940’s escaping the British partitioning of India and Pakistan with empty hands. They made their way to Vancouver where they eventually opened a fish market in the 1970’s.
The fish menu will reflect the colourful and aromatic foods of their multi-cultural history.
