The Alana James Memorial Culinary Scholarship
2024 Application Deadline Extended – Thursday, October 31, 2024 11:59PM PST
“When our beloved Ali passed away in February 2023 after a courageous battle with liver cancer, we knew that we wanted to do something significant and meaningful to honour her life and her memory.
Ali loved to cook. She loved to cook for her family and friends, for celebratory occasions, for the Jewish holidays. It was one of the powerful ways in which she showed love and devotion, passion and creativity. Culinary creations were one of the ingredients that contributed to her strong family and friendships. Ali was constantly exploring and enhancing her culinary skills. To honour Ali’s life and memory, we established The Alana James Memorial Culinary Scholarship Fund.
With the funds raised by her family, friends and community, The Alana James Memorial Culinary Scholarship Fund will help individuals in their pursuit of education in the culinary arts. The recipients must demonstrate a passion and interest in the culinary arts as well as financial need.
The funds will be distributed through JFS Vancouver, an organization that was meaningful to Ali and to her husband Mark.
This Culinary Scholarship Fund honours Ali’s memory and will provide a meaningful opportunity each year for those who receive the scholarship award." - Jody Dales, Josephine Nadel & Elie Shafran
